I think Dell have an obligation to help us sort this out. Others seem to have found workarounds for different manufacturers. (Acrobat Reader is very helpfully there though, and I have all 3 downloads left for that.). Neither can I anywhere on Google or the Dell site, certainly not on the download area for my machine. Downloaded DP6.2 and it won't install, saying it's and upgrade and it can't find 'Dell Personal' whatever that is. Did all the things recommended - downloaded DP 5.2.1 from the Dell store, installed - works fine except for the W8 log-on screen. Vostro V131, bought with W7 64Pro last Feb (not so long ago!), now upgraded to W8 64Pro. If you can help Philip is would be great. After a reboot, I was then able to install the Win8 compatible software in this article without a problem. I then ran that setup and it installed successfully. I set the compatibility on that file to Vista 64 SP2, just for kicks. I then browsed into the 'BIN' folder and the '圆4' folder within that. I set the compatibility on setup.exe to windows7 and tried to run it, no good, same error. I copied the install files off the CD to the hard drive (Setup.exe and the 'BIN' folder). I received a message saying it couldn't be installed because of compatibility issues. I tried to install the old version directly from the disk. Luckily, I found my old Dell grey recovery disks.

I verified it was the file from the 'My Downloads area'. Unfortunately the old one would not install, it gave me the '.this package can only be installed as an upgrade' message. I downloaded the file (64-bit) from the 'My Dell Downloads' area. I tried installing the old Digital Persona software first as instructed.
